Antique Farms are always interesting family outings that make history come alive. Just don't tell the kids it's a history lesson. Seeing how people worked and lived, especially in our own local areas really gives kids a connection to their heritage that is fun. My friend told me her daughters were still playing "farm" weeks after the family toured a local farm museum. There's nothing like actually experiencing Living History to make it come alive. If you are into collecting Antique farm implements, Milk Jugs or tractors, it's a lot of fun to go to Farm Museums and Country tractor shows. A lot of great people show up at these wholesome family days. They are really fun and are a great way to spend...

The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is the largest of its kind in the world. Every hotel in Tucson is taken over. Glamour of the biggest and most expensive gems in the world, everything that glitters under the sun. What I see when I walk in there is a slag pile, miles long and who knows how high. Besides the environmental damage, how much ill treated labor was needed to create this mess? It is just like going into a supermarket and seeing all the meat wrapped in plastic without the visit to the slaughterhouses of Greeley Colorado, or going to the gas pump without seeing the caskets come back from Iraq. Jewelry is no different than any other commodity. We're certainly far more eco-friendly, fair trade...

Want to sound like someone who is art savvy? Make sure you don't use the following art "faux pas." - Using the word "seriagraph" - Actually, there is no such thing as a seriagraph. What you are attempting to reference is a form of printmaking known as a serigraph, screenprint or using past terminology, a silkscreen print. - Using the word "sketches" - Those who are knowledgeable about art use the term "drawings" instead of sketches. - Using the word "picture - The word picture suggests an item that is more decorative in nature, while the word "painting" denotes a valuable work of art. The island of Roanoke in North Carolina holds the secret to the baffling disappearance of a band of English settlers in the late sixteenth century. The early colony simply vanished without trace, and their fate has intrigued and baffled historians ever since. The story starts in 1587, with the second attempt to establish a British colony on Roanoke Island. Two years earlier, English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh made an unsuccessful bid to establish a settlement on the Island, sponsoring an all-male colony which initially integrated well with the Native Americans already living there. However, the harmony didn't last as the brusque manner of colony commander Sir Ralph Lane soon angered the local tribe...

Archeological remains and fossil evidence reveals that pecans were collected and stored by Indians, the original settlers and inhabitants of America, and the group now known as the "mound builders." American Indians followed this same example and were actively gathering pecan nuts when the European colonists arrived. The pecan trees were found growing in their northern limits along the tributaries of the Mississippi River near Louisville, Kentucky; Terra Haute, Indiana; and Clinton, Iowa, which is located at the same latitude as Chicago, Illinois. Here's what I was able to turn up: The first text known to deal with health and healing is "The Vedas" and is attributed to a fellow in India by the name of "Srila Vyasadeva" around 1500 BC. Inscription is a huge part of teaching the English language, but not every teacher is a natural born writer, even if they know the language very well. Teachers of this variety often need help preparing for this creative part of the class. While simple sentences and such are easy to plan for it is when the students move on to tougher aspects that educators may want some reinforcement. Of course, teachers cannot simply skip every writing lesson plan because it is not their strong suit, instead they must find resources that will at least help them plan well for the class sessions that are...
